Of course I won a Persimmon. Because of course I did! I kind of knew it was gonna happen. When I'm least prepared for these things, they happen. It's always the Web Special, that I like, think is cute, but won't cry about if I don't win one. (Dugan was.. hard.) Alas I will be getting him, because if you don't you regret these things. I'll be waiting a few days to order him, just so I can try and get the finances in order.
I will say that I laughed out loud when I saw the 'You Won!' banner on my club-home page. Yep, knew it was gonna happen.
Oh and about what I said in paragraph one, I don't mean that I'm ungrateful to have 'won' him or that I don't really like him. I love him. It's just that the universe leaves a sour taste in my mouth when I win these things when there's no money to buy them with. I'll figure it out, though, because these opportunities don't happen everyday and we should take advantage of them, if possible or if it can be made possible.
Onto something else now.
Word of 'Patriot' a Translucent Patriotic themed American Saddlebred has been circulating. The number one complaint- the red nose:
I apologize for the tiny photo. You can see better pictures at https://www.backinthesaddle.com/itemdy00.aspx?T1=BB6163
I agree that the red nose is... weird. A white nose might have been a better choice. The production pieces might vary from the photography piece, as well. So we will see.
As for 'what is he'? A 2016 Limited Edition. Don't tell me no one else thought it weird when, on February 1st or whatever there were no Limited Editions included in the 2016 releases. The Limited Edition Patriot clearly wasn't ready for releasing when the rest of the models were. I don't doubt that there's another Limited Edition in the pipe line. Last year we had 3 and the AQHA Treasure Hunt thing.
Another thing. The American Saddlebred has become THE MOLD for decorator limited things, evidently. Remember Mu Wen Ma is 2014? And Diamond Jubilee in 2010? I have no problems with the mold. It looks pretty on the shelf, if not a little dramatic. But it is a little over used in the Decorator Limited Edition context. Or is it? I mean, Mu Wen Ma, Diamond Jubilee, and Patriot would make a pretty trio. Just sayin'.
Actually, The ASB would make a logical choice for the North America Breyerfest Special Run. He has come in a lot of colors though and has seen a lot of attention in the past, so maybe not.
I like Patriot but he's not on my Priority List right now. First Persimmon, then that thing I've been watching on Ebay, and then Store-Purchasable models. I'm sure one will end up on my shelf eventually. Just not this month or next month or the next month. Maybe in July. He'd make for a cute 4th of July photo shoot.
